Literature Text

I empathize with you, Mother.
Your pain at delivery.
Your pain before it and afterwards.
Your need for sleep and your lack of rest.
I sympathize.
I understand.
I lived it.
I became you, but, not you.
We were different.
I'm was soft as you were, as gentle.
I believed was I wiser, more knowledgeable.
I felt your pain at this as well.
Your inability to guide the young with all their questions.
I read more from "experts". I asked the doctors more questions. I researched the answers.
I sympathize with you, Mother.
You tried your best, as I tried mine.
I know now that I didn't have all the answers, all the questions.
I do know that I did my best.
Like you did.

Let me hold my children like you held yours, close and comforting.
Let me kiss them sweetly, gently, tenderly.
Let me listen to them whenever they need to say something.
Let me be there for them.

Like you are.

I love you Mother.
